Early Term Graduation
(for thesis and dissertation students only)

A student who misses the listed Thesis/Dissertation Submission deadline may graduate in the following term without registering in that following term if she/he submits the completed/defended/approved/formatted thesis/dissertation no later than 5:00 P.M. on the GO-17 deadline (i.e., a student who turns in all copies of the thesis after July 25 but no later than 5:00 P.M. August 19, 2008, and has met all other requirements by that date, will graduate in Fall term 2008 without having to register in Fall term; she/he must be registered in Summer term 2008).

Notes

Note 1:

The student must deliver a readable, typed defense draft of the thesis or dissertation to all members of the approved committee no fewer than 14 days before the oral defense.

Note 2:

For a non-thesis final oral examination, the oral examination must be held during regular term (during 8-week term for Summer) and at least two weeks before the end of the term.

Note 3:

Three copies of the unbound thesis, three original approval pages, and four copies of the abstract, in approved form and with all original signatures, must be submitted on acceptable thesis paper (see the handout INFORMATION REGARDING THESIS AND DISSERTATION APPROVAL, available in the Office of Graduate Studies). Ph.D. Urban Studies, P.A.P., and E.S.R. require one additional copy. We suggest that thesis/dissertation students bring abstracts, approval pages, title pages, and the entire body of the thesis to the Graduate Office for review before copying to archival paper.
