Portland State University is an open, official testing center for the following National Testing Programs. Registration information is available at the University Center Building in room 310. Registration is not done in Testing Services. Students must register with and pay fees to the individual program.
- Subject GRE (Graduate Record Examination)
- MAT (Miller Analogies Test)
- NBCC (National Board for Certified Counselors)
- PRAXIS (National Teacher's Examinations)
The following national test program is given by appointment* in the Office of Testing Services.
- CLEP (College Level Examination Program)
The exam below is given as an Institutional Testing Programs* for PSU students, and given only at specified times during the year. Scores are only available to PSU students and are not transferable.
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
Vocational and Career Assessment*
PSU Testing Services has a program for students and non-students. Assessments are prescribed by a CAPS psychologist and may include general interest, vocational preference, work values, personality, aptitude and achievement assessent to help determine an appropriate career path or choice of major.
Psychological Assessment
These assessments are administered to PSU students who are seeing a CAPS counselor. These tests are often required for graduate programs in counseling or psychology at other college or universities and PSU Testing Services provides this service to PSU students taking 5 or more credit hours.*
Learning Assessment*
Learning disabilities screening is provided to PSU students taking 5 or more credit hours. Students may go on to complete a more extensive assessment based on their needs and our available resources.
